I was just reading news of the Obama campaign’s attempts at preventing NRA sponsored ads from running on the airwaves that bring attention to Obama’s anti-gun status.

Here’s my opinions on this,

  Obama claims he supports the 2nd amendment, however, it is my opinion that he supports it only in so far as it’s concerned in regards to hunting or sportsmen.  What about self defense?  In a 2004 debate with Keyes he said

“…assault weapons that have only one purpose, and that is to kill people..”

Does Senator Barack Obama really think our founding fathers penned the second amendment for hunting?  Why should the people not be allowed to match the US Military in firepower?   It is my opinion that the sole reason for a ban on any semi-automatic weapon is not to lower or prevent crime, or not to prevent law enforcement deaths, but to prevent the people from having the capacity to match the government in firepower.

  There are far many more guns than just shotguns and the typical rifles used for hunting, yet Obama says he supports the rights of hunters and sportsmen.. BAH.. so what if Obama will not interfere with your right to have a shotgun or a low powered rifle that would be virtually useless in defending yourself against a well armed military unit.

  Suppose the United States were attacked on American soil by a foreign enemy.. Would you sit idle and do nothing and wait for the US Armed Forces to do all the work for you?  Lord knows I would not sit on my thumbs and do nothing..  I will fight for my country.. I will defend my home.. I will protect my family, friends and neighbors..  There are countless others out there whom feel the same way, however, how would such people adequately defend the US from attack if there’s a ban on weapons that Obama considers as assault rifles.

  The second amendment exists for the benefit of the people to defend themselves against its own government on the chance that that government would turn on the people to oppress them.  The 2nd amendment also exists so that militias may also take up arms to defend the country against attack. A ban on ANY semi-automatic weapon in my opinion is unconstitutional and consequently hinders the peoples ability and RIGHT to take up arms to defend themselves. 

Imagine a hypothetical and fictional event in which the US government turns on its people and becomes an unconstitutional government and attempts to oppress them.  How will you fight against this to prevent it if assault weapons are banned and made illegal?  Can you imagine a faction of back woods county boys armed with 12 guage shotguns and Winchester 70 fighting against a well equipped military unit..     

When is someone going to tell Obama that the second amendment isn’t for hunting?

The individual right to keep and bear arms is about Freedom, Self Defense, Safeguarding the Bill of Rights, and Protecting against Government Tyranny and  Oppression. The  2nd Amendment is NOT about sport, games, or hunting — it’s about controlling the deadly force of governments & tyranny.
